these breadsticks were so tasty, even my sister who isn't gluten free loved them. the texture was so similar to regular bread, if i was sitting in a chair i probably would have fallen out of it! ha!
here we go!
ingredients |
1 cup + 2 Tbsp warm water
1 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (i used red star)
2 Tbsp sugar, divided
2 1/2 cups gluten free flour blend with xantham gum (i used Namaste)
1 1/2 tsp salt
3 Tbsp oil (i used olive oil)
for the garlic butter |
2 Tbsp butter
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp garlic powder
instructions |
- measure warm water, yeast & 1 tsp of sugar. mix until yeast dissolves. allow to rest for 10 minutes
- in a bowl of a stand mixer, add yeast mixture, remaining 1 Tbsp + 2 tsp sugar, 1 1/2 cups flour, 1 1/2 tsp salt and oil. mix until sticky
- add in remaining 1 cup of flour and kneed until dough is smooth and slightly sticky. add more flour if dough is too sticky
- put dough in a large oiled bowl, cover and let rise for 1 - 1 1/12 hours in a warm place
- once risen, divide dough into 8-10 pieces. roll each piece out into a rope shape and transfer onto a oiled cookies sheet. cover and let rise again for 1 hour
- while your dough is rising, mix 2 Tbsp butter, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp garlic powder together til smooth
- preheat oven at 425 degrees F
- butter your breadsticks and cook for 8-10 minutes
- when your breadsticks get out of the oven butter them again & let them sit for 2-5 minutes before eating to get the best bread texture
store in an airtight container
hope you enjoy these as much as i did!
